Prostate Cancer and BPH
Prostate cancer is

is the use of Pygeum herb that is helpful in reducing the discomfort caused by the cancer. This herb is being
widely preferred by patients of prostate cancer for its natural curative properties and overall beneficial

gland is located very close to male excretory organ which helps to separate waste matters from
the blood and discharges them. In some men, particularly in their later ages, the prostate gland gets
enlarged and causes a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia, commonly known as BPH. The gland starts swelling considerably in size and pressurizes the urethra. In
some, unfortunately, the prostate is not only enlarged but also affected by cancer. This consequently affects
the flow of urine badly, and cause pain and discomfort. Some of the early symptoms of Prostate cancer include
frequent urination and difficulty in urinating. To treat these symptoms, some patient use herbs such as Pygeum.
What is Pygeum?
is scientifically known as Prunus Africana and belongs to the plum family. The tree is mostly found in higher
altitude of African countries. It is widely used and has been medically approved in countries like Germany,
Italy and France. In European countries, the bark of this tree is extracted in order to make a medicine that is
effectively used for the treatment of prostate Cancer. It provides the herbal option for treating the Prostate cancer
an alternative to other therapies.
Benefits of Pygeum
Following are some of the curative
benefits of Pygeum:
diminishes the symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy (BPH).
cures erectile dysfunction and inflammation of urinary system.
renders relief in kidney diseases.
prevents male baldness.
cures stomach and urinary tract disorders.
prevents spreading of malignancy in the prostate gland.
How Pygeum Work?
gland stimulates a male hormone named Androgen Receptors on which prostate cancer cells tend to feed. Pygeum has
the power to block the normal functioning of the Androgen Receptors and prevent progression of prostate
malignancy. The three curative components found in Pygeum are ferulic acid, phytosterols and triterpenes. Each
of these components has distinct properties. While ferulic acid has ability to reduce the level of bad
cholesterol in the prostate glands, the other two are known to have anti-inflammatory properties. Pygeum
controls the cholesterol level, the main precursor known for trigging prostate cancer. The regular intake of
this herb even averts the recurrence of prostate cancer.
Pygeum is herbal supplement, some menial side effects have been reported after taking it in excess. Some of the
mild side effects seen in some patients of prostate cancer are nausea, stomach pain, constipation and diarrhea. Although these are
controllable side effects of Pygeum, the doctor must be consulted. The doctor should also be consulted to take
Pygeum along with other medications.
